There are several conditions which can cause gender to be other than a straightforward "male" or "female", and others that can cause the apperarance of a less-than-straightforward classification.





Intersexuality, the condition of being "not entirely male, not entirely female", does occur. With genetic testing, we can find that some people have sex chromosomes which are not the typical XX or XY, but things like XXY or XXXY or even XXXXY. There are some other conditions, such as androgene immune syndrome, which cause a person with XY chromosomes (chromosomally male) to have what appear to be female sex organs.





There are a lot of possible answers.





It's highly doubtful that her entire family would go along with desires for a sex change and would not leak it out, especially given the sorts of fees that some gossip people will pay for inside information. There would be some "before" pictures, and they likely would come out. So, I tend to doubt that it's all that.





BTW, she isn't the first female celebrity to be suspected of being a guy in drag. Jamie Lee Curtis is said by some to have androgen immune syndrome (although this has never been proved, and is merely speculation), and some wonder about the promenent adam's apple on Anne Coulter.
